- I've just installed a new PNP USR 33.6 modem. It seems to work well, but has
- one annoying problem. Anytime the speaker volume control is at 0 (no volume),
- but audio is being generated - such as during the dialing/negotiation phase,
- an audible tone (constant frequency) is heard from the speaker. It is in the
- 400hz range. As soon as the connect is made the tone goes away. Has anyone
- else experienced this? Note: it is not the modem tones, as they vary quite
- rapidly during that phase.
-
- It reminds me of a power supply that is not completely filtered.
